Golden Rutilated Quartz

The golden threads grew first — needles of rutile drifting in mineral water — and the quartz sealed around them, holding them mid-motion for a few million years. The Renaissance called it Venus’s hair. No two stones carry the same needles, so every bead cut from this material is an unrepeatable drawing of light.
