Larimar
Larissa y el mar — a daughter and the sea
Larimar exists in exactly one place: a single volcanic slope above the Caribbean, found in 1974 by Miguel Méndez, who welded his daughter’s name to the Spanish word for sea. The pattern is the one you see looking down through calm shallows. When this mountainside is done, there is no second source.
“Named for a daughter and the sea — Larissa, y el mar.”Miguel Méndez · Barahona, 1974
